If you are looking for a hip and trendy Family spot to kick back on your Orlando vacation, this is the place for you. Good for families, The Good Life Vacation Home is located right in the midst of the hottest local restaurants, bars, farmers markets and shops in the city. It’s close to the theme parks (25 minutes from Universal & Disney) and all the places you may be traveling to visit, while still giving you a feel for some of the non-touristy gems that you will most definitely enjoy as well.
We have two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other is a fully functional kids room with two twin beds. We have oversized sliding doors which open to the patio and pool, and also let in that beautiful Florida sunshine as natural light. The kitchen is completely remodeled with all new appliances. We have a giant bar that functions as a kitchen table and countertop - perfect for meals at home, a workspace, or game nights. But let’s be honest, you are likely traveling to Florida to enjoy the gorgeous weather. We have a brand new outside patio with lounge furniture and a dining table - all covered and can be enjoyed rain or shine, morning and night. Our sparkling, pristine pool is perfect to cool down, get a little exercise, or simply hang out in, while you BBQ, listen to music, or just relax.
Our home is family friendly, our kids absolutely love it! We would love to share with you some of our favorite spots for kids and adults in the direct vicinity of the home - just let us know if you have questions or specific interests and we are happy to point you in the right direction. Also check out the "Location" section of our listing for some of our favorite neighborhood bars, restaurants, activities and attractions.
A few things to note:
This is our home, not a hotel. We provide linens, towels, some household essentials, and do our best to make it as comfortable as possible. If you choose to book with us, we will provide you a notebook with instructions and give you tips on all the little quirks that come along with staying in a 1950's Florida home.
Guests must be 25 years of age to rent our place.
Please take off shoes upon entering the house.
No smoking of any kind inside the house.
No Parties, this is a family neighborhood.
VERY IMPORTANT :: TRASH (SUNDAY NIGHT) AND RECYCLE (WED NIGHT)
The trash is collected on Monday mornings. If you are at the house on a Sunday, please pull the trash can in the garage out to the end of the driveway before going to bed. If you arrive on a Monday, please pull the empty trash can back into the garage.
Please recycle! Rinse out recyclables completely before putting them in the recycle bin which is the large brown can in the garage. Bin goes out wed night for a Thursday morning pickup - be sure to pull the bin back toward the house once it's empty.
Please be careful when opening/closing the sliding glass door as it is very old and a bit fragile - also one of our favorite parts of the home! There are two locks that need to be unfastened before opening - at the bottom there are two latches that you lift/lower, and another latch at the top of the doors. Please be sure to lock all of these when you are not in the house.
Feel free to use the grill, there is propane in the tank, however we ask that you keep it on the deck in the area that is uncovered - away from the house. Please empty and clean the grease trey under the grill after use, be sure to turn the gas off, and put the grill cover on (once it's cooled down) securely after use. Grill supplies are in the kitchen cabinet under the silverware drawer.
Please only use the natural cleaners or soap and water to wipe out the sink or countertops. Since they are white, they stain easily so we ask that anything like red wine be cleaned off immediately. Any cleaning supplies that you need are under the sink and brooms/mops (should you need them) are in the hall closet.
Please only use glass cleaner or soap and water on the stove top.
Since it's Florida and there are naturally lots of bugs, we ask that you please not leave out open containers of food. You can store anything in the refrigerator and/or use the ziplock bags and press n seal wrap in the revolving cabinet to the right of the sink. Please dispose of food at the end of your stay.
Please either wash or put dirty dishes in dishwasher and run it before the end of the your stay. Dishwashing tablets are under the sink.
Please take the sheets off the bed at the end of your stay and leave them on the floor along with any towels or linens that you used.
The house was built in 1953 and though we've made many updates we have an older electrical system. This should not cause you any problems but be aware that if you are going to use a blow dryer in the bathroom, in the bedrooms you will need to turn off fans, unplug anything charging such as cell phones and turn the off the lights. If for some reason the power goes out when you are using a blow dryer, the breaker is labeled bathroom/bedroom in the hallway and you can simply flip the switch to turn it back on.
Extra toilet paper and paper towels (if not in the kitchen or bathroom) are in the garage above the washer and dryer.
Bath and pool towels are in the bathroom closet. Please dry off after using the pool before entering house and do not sit on furniture in wet clothing.
Please turn off lights when leaving the house and also turn the AC up to 76-78 degrees when you leave at the end of your stay.
Remotes for TV is in the top drawer under the TV. We have netflix and amazon TV.
If you want to play music, download the Sonos app and connect to wifi.
We have our personal clothes and items in the closets and bathroom, but there is plenty of extra space for you to store your things in the drawers, hanging space, etc.
